Governors

Our Governors play a key role in our continued improvements, and bring a range of skills and expertise to our academy.

Jackie Tagg

Chair of Governors

I believe strongly that all children can benefit from an excellent education particularly those from challenging backgrounds.

I believe strongly that all children can benefit from an excellent education particularly those from challenging backgrounds and I am committed to helping to achieve this. Identifying and supporting individual student needs and well-being will allow them to achieve their full potential. Ensuring they are provided with the foundation blocks for their futures as adults will give them the best chance of achieving social mobility.

I have been a governor at a post-16 college for 3 years and actively sought an opportunity to work with key stage 1.

I have lived in Halifax all my life. I have 4 grown up children and 6 grandchildren. I grew up in what is considered a deprived area of Calderdale to disabled elderly parents. I have previously worked in special educational needs but have spent the last 20 years in the social housing sector. I often see many of our former students becoming my future customers.

Helen Bell

Child Protection Governor

I have an absolute passion for the area and care deeply about the education of our children and young people.

Having lived in Halifax all my life I have an absolute passion for the area and care deeply about the education of our children and young people.

I have worked as a Business Manager in Calderdale schools for over 25 years and have a sound knowledge of primary education, finance and safeguarding.

I am delighted to be serving on the governing body of Akroydon Primary Academy and I am keen to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children. I look forward to working with my talented and professional colleagues who are fully committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential. I feel sure that we all, parents, governors and staff, share the vision of seeing our school move forward, the children flourish and receive an outstanding education in a nurturing and vibrant environment.

I am an animal lover and like to spend my spare time surrounded by horses and dogs. I enjoy going to the gym (reluctantly!) and reading is something I do to relax.

Rob McGinty

I firmly believe that enrichment is important in the shaping of our young people.

I am very privileged to serve as a Governor at Akroydon Primary Academy and am excited about working with the school.

I have worked in education for over 15 years, with the last five years being as a Senior Leader in two local secondary schools. I have also previously been a Governor in another local primary academy. In terms of school improvement, I have particular interests in curriculum design and quality assurance systems in ensuring overall standards are maintained.

I am a qualified teacher of Physical Education and a keen sportsman. I firmly believe that enrichment is important in the shaping of our young people. I look forward to seeing what Akroydon Primary Academy offers the students in terms of extra-curricular activities.

Dianne Moffat

I am excited and very much committed to supporting the school on its journey to ‘Outstanding’.

Having worked in industry as an Accounts Manager for many years, I made the decision in 2003 to follow a long standing ambition – to contribute to the education of young people. It is now 15 years since I made that decision and I have had the privilege of working with many well respected local leaders who passionately believe (as I do) that all children have the right to a great education, irrespective of their own personal background. A good education will open doors of opportunity for our students and allow them to reach their full potential in the years to come.

I am excited and very much committed to supporting the school on its journey to ‘Outstanding’.

I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to serve as a governor for Akroydon Primary School.

I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to serve as a governor for Akroydon Primary School.

I firmly believe that children are our future and every child deserves to be given an equal opportunity to develop their potential in life through quality education.

I have previously held a governors position for over 8 years with a Calderdale school and now look forward to contributing towards the progression in achieving a ‘Outstanding’ status, which is the aim of everyone involved with the school and our children deserve our dedication to achieve this.

I have lived in Halifax for over 30 years, and presently work for a local housing provider who provides over 11,000 homes in Calderdale.
