An Introduction from the Principal

As Principal, I am delighted to welcome you to Akroydon Primary Academy. We became Akroydon Primary Academy in February 2017, opening on the site of the former Rawson Junior and Infant School. Our new name marks the start of an exciting journey for our academy community whilst reflecting and celebrating our long-standing history in the local area.

We have exciting plans for our growth and continued improvement, which is strengthened by our recent move to join the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). The flagship school in the MAT is the outstanding Trinity Academy Halifax. Although as a primary school we are of course very different in what we offer and the age of the children we care for, being part of a MAT helps us to ensure that our pupils enjoy the same high standards and an education that lays the foundations for their success in their formative years and beyond.

Our academy community is nurturing, inspiring and offers a culture where children achieve. Our staff team are determined to help each and every student reach his or her potential during these crucial formative years. Children can join us in our nursery, and we hope will progress with us in Reception and beyond.

Visitors often comment upon how our classrooms are hives of activity, with children focused upon and enjoying their learning. We pride ourselves on offering a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by an education that develops the whole child. Our pupils are caring, welcoming, respectful and take responsibility for their own behaviour. We work closely with parents and carers to develop these important values along with the core academic skills children need to succeed. All parents who join our community share this commitment to working in partnership with us to secure the best outcomes for their child.

This website shares more about our vision and values, but the best way to experience what Akroydon Primary Academy has to offer is to pay us a visit and come and meet our staff and wonderful pupils. If you would like to find out more about this, please contact us
