Akroydon Primary Academy admissions

We are an inclusive academy, welcoming pupils and parents of all backgrounds and faiths. Our approach to admissions is detailed below. Please do contact us should you require any further advice and support.

We have a 52 place Nursery and provide 15 hours of Nursery Education free of charge. Children may attend any six of our morning or afternoon sessions which are all 2.5 hrs long, subject to availability. Parents may purchase additional sessions if required, again subject to availability.

The academy itself allocates places in the Nursery. Parents wishing to apply for a place in our Nursery should contact the academy no later than January in order for their child to start in September. Please note that children are admitted to the Nursery in the school year in which they become four years old.

All parents of children to be admitted to the Nursery are invited to an open evening giving them and their child an opportunity to visit the Nursery before admission.

Our admission number is up to 60. Parents wishing to apply for a place in Reception should complete the form in the Admission to Primary School booklet which is available from school or the Calderdale Education Department. This should be completed and returned by the December prior to admission the following September.

There is also an open evening for Reception parents and their children when they have the opportunity to meet the staff and visit the Reception unit.

Parents of children in Years 1 to 6 wishing to join the school should contact the school office in order to make an appointment to view the school. An application form is available from school which can be returned to the school itself or Calderdale Education Department. The application will then be considered at the fortnightly North Halifax or Central Halifax BAC panel meeting.

Akroydon Primary Academy follows the Calderdale Admissions Policy and associated oversubscription criteria. Please click here  to access a copy of the Admissions Policy.
